The Attica Coastline

Over the centuries the land of Attica has been shaped by the sea, with a beautiful shoreline. Its name derives from the ancient "Aktiki", meaning a land with many shores. Whether a person simply wants to enjoy the sea next to a luxury beach hotel, or whether they want to try out sea sports - diving, water-skiing, fishing - one will find all they need and much more on the Attica beaches.

The beach hotels near Athens are combined with coniferous trees, tranquil lakes, and mineral springs and cover a range of properties from ultra-luxurious resorts to romantic hideaways by the sea. There's plenty to delight gastronomes too. Many of the beachfront attica hotels are home to modern fusion restaurants that combine influences from all over the Mediterranean, Asia and the Middle East. Seafood lovers will find fishy delights at harbours like Rafina - the ferry port nearest Athens International Airport, which is the perfect place to start or finish an island-hopping holiday. attica hotels

Located on the east coast, Vravrona and Artemida are also cheerful, low-key resorts, with many beach hotels and seafood restaurants – so they are a great spot for a short stay beside the sea. At the very tip of Attica, Sounion is landmarked by the columns of the Temple of Poseidon, overlooking a sandy bay of calm, sheltered water. Small or far stretching, pebbly or sandy, quiet or busy the Attica beaches can guarantee memorable, enjoyable moments.
